SPLIT SYSTEM AIR CONDITIONER TYPES
WALL SPLIT SYSTEMS
Wall Split Systems compose of two parts – an indoor unit which is mounted on a wall, close the roof cornices, inside the house and the outdoor compressor unit which is mounted outside either on Aero-stand feet (as recommended by Suburban Splits Air Conditioning), on a wall bracket or on the roof. The two components are connected via insulated copper pipe and connected to either a local power source or the mains power board, depending on the size, brand and power availability.
Wall Split Systems are designed to provide cooling and heating comfort in the room that they are installed in. They are energy efficient because they allow you to control the temperature for that room only. Quality brands also contain purifying filters to ensure the air is clean and fresh and are powerful enough to move the air to all parts of the room, while still being whisper quiet. Wall Split Systems are compact and are aesthetically pleasing, designed to blend in with your room décor.
| A ceiling cassette also composes of two parts and works the same as a wall split system except the indoor unit component is mounted in the roof space instead of the on the wall. Ceiling Cassettes are a good option if there is not a wall available to mount an indoor unit or you want to conceal the unit.
Ceiling cassettes are suitable for use in wide range of applications such as residential, shops and small offices. Aesthetically pleasing and with a stylish appearance, the Ceiling Cassette System fits with interiors where design is as important as functionality. The Ceiling Cassette suits all standard ceilings and is easy to install and maintain.
The performance of cassette units is generally comparable to that of other types of systems, although because they’re most commonly installed in commercial or office areas, they tend to be more powerful than wall-mounted systems. They are particularly well suited to circumstances where wall-hung split systems or other system types might not be an option. Cassette units tend to be more expensive than other systems.
MULTI HEAD SPLIT SYSTEM UNITS
|Multi head units consist of two or more head units to one compressor unit. You can have a combination of a wall splits system and ceiling cassette indoor unit connected to one compressor unit. the KW size of the compressor unit is determined by the KW size of the indoor units being connected and is a good option if you do not have the outdoor space for more than one compressor unit.
Looking for versatility from your air conditioning? Some of our inverter multi-split system air conditioners allow up to 8 indoor units to be connected to just one outdoor unit.
This improves both outdoor space and external aesthetics, and makes for an economic multi-room solution.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE SPLIT SYSTEM AIR CONDITIONER:
There are other factors to take into consideration when choosing the size of the split system air conditioner you require for your room but you can generally size the air conditioner to your room size. see below for examples. We do recommended organising a free in home quote with one of our technicians who can size the room correctly and provide recommendations.
So by now in your search for the perfect Split System Air Conditioning solution you may have heard the words ‘standard back to back’ installation being used to describe the most basic type of split system installation. But what does this actually mean, what does a back to back installation look like and what is included in a back to back installation completed by Suburban Splits Air Conditioning?
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A STANDARD BACK TO BACK INSTALLATION:
A standard back to back installation is classified as being an installation that takes place on a ground floor brick and tile home. The indoor unit is installed inside on an external wall and the outdoor compressor unit is installed directly behind, on the same wall, outside.
MATERIALS INCLUDED IN OUR STANDARD BACK TO BACK INSTALLATION :
– 3m Insulated Copper Pipe
– 2m UV Resistant Duct Cover
– 2m Drain Pipe
– 15m Electrical Supply Cable
– Aero-stand rubber feet – Free of charge valued at $49.00
– Delivery of your air conditioning systems & Disposal of all boxes and rubbish (when purchased from Suburban Splits / Split Store Air Conditioning)
– 5 Year workmanship warranty, lifetime advice
We use only the best materials, designed and manufactured to withstand the harsh Australian environment. Everything we do from start to finish is all about quality.
When comparing pricing with other installation companies make sure you are comparing apples with apples – some companies only included 2m of copper pipe (some manufacturers actually state a minimum of 3 has to be used) and don’t install your outdoor unit on aero-stand feet, just straight on the ground. Manufacturers and all good installation companies recommend that the compressor unit is mounted off the ground to allow for air flow and stop any rubbish collecting under the unit.
OTHER INSTALLATION TYPES:
Not all split system air conditioner installations are standard back to back. You may want your air conditioner compressor installed on a balcony or on the roof or the indoor unit may need to be installed on an internal wall. We usually recommend a site visit for any installs that are not standard back to back that way there is no surprises on the day of installation and you know exactly what additional expense you may be up for. Also, check out the pictures in our gallery for examples of the different installation types.
